Jump Rope for Heart

Last Thursday at school we had Jump Rope for heart. Jump Rope for Heart is an event our school has every year to help pump your heart.

Children from different syndicates put on special performances for the kids to show off their skipping talents.

But before the show we some cool skipping activities so even if you aren’t in the shows you can still have some fun and pump your heart.

Top Tip - Make your own ice-blocks.

Make ice-blocks at home by pouring fruit smoothies, 100% fruit juice or pureed fresh fruit into ice moulds and freeze them.

This is another great way to eat more fruit!

5 + a day Month is November

The purpose of 5+ A Day is to encourage all New Zealanders to eat and enjoy eating 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables every day for health.

5 + a day the colour way

For good health it is essential to eat 5+ A Day servings of fruit and vegetables and ideal if we can eat from each of the colour groups.

What is a serving?

A serving is about a handful. Everyone uses their own hand to measure their servings. This means a serving for an adult is a lot bigger than a serving for a small child.

Shared Lunch in room 18

Another great initiative happening at Marshall Laing is whole class shared lunches.

In room 18 everybody brought healthy fillings to create sandwiches. Some of these filling were cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, 4 bean mix and egg.

There was also a huge platter of fresh fruit. We loved it.
